My mom passed away from cancer 5 years ago this coming June.  Among the numerous flowers and plants we received, this is the one I took home with me.

This is a Peace Lily.  It looks a little sickly in this picture but it's much healthier in reality.  

Peace Lilies are supposed to be good at managing indoor pollution.  The house I lived in previously had a really damp, moldy basement.  This plant almost died while I was living there.  When I bought my new house, the plant started to perk up a bit and had been doing well ever since.  

All this to say, this plant has NEVER bloomed.  I'm not sure why.  I've read online horticulture sites (yes, I really am that boring) and have found nothing useful.  Well, I was looking at it today and found this:


That little white thing in the middle of the picture is a BUD! Can you believe it?  It should be nice and bloomed by Easter.  I'm so excited!
